Food pantries struggle after the holidays give

Many organizations, such as St. Francis Community Center in Long Beach Island, has a donation section on their website to contribute electronically, or to obtain an address to send a check, as well as information about how to donate food.

Food pantries usually benefit from a dose of seasonal good will during the holidays. Often, however, increased contributions ended sometime after the new year began.

Continued weak economy and the reduction of food rations federal can make a more serious problem for local pantries. But officials said that the gaps are filled in with the help of a few major supermarket chains, local churches and organizations and citizens.
